Kahakuloa Bridge to be replaced | News, Sports, Jobs
Work to replace the Kahakuloa Bridge will close down Kahekili Highway for 10 days, blocking access between Wailuku and Kapalua at Kahakuloa Village, the county said Friday.
No motor vehicles will be allowed through the work area from Wednesday to July 27. The work will involve the Department of Public Works replacing the bridge near Milepost 14.4 and installing a new prefabricated steel truss bridge as well as other roadwork.
There will be two signs indicating turnaround locations before the bridge work — at Elephant Head near Karen Lei’s Gallery at Milepost 13.8 on the Wailuku side and at Braddah Chics Stop near Milepost 14.7 on the Kapalua side.
The $816,000 job will be done by contractor Hawaiian Dredging.
