Fire damages Napili residence | News, Sports, Jobs

A fire early Thursday caused an estimated $40,000 in damage to a residence on Hui Road A in Napili, a fire official said.

Napili and Lahaina engine companies responded to the fire reported at 5:02 a.m. that involved mainly the exterior of the home, said Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro.

He said firefighters quickly brought the fire under control.

The damage was mainly to the exterior and eaves on a portion of the house, Yatsushiro said.

He said an investigation showed the cause appeared to be accidental and related to the disposal of rags used for staining wood.
