According to a recent news release, on Tuesday at approximately 2:54 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a commercial vehicle crash on I-84 at milepost 54 in Boise.

A 46-year-old male from Michigan City, Indiana, traveled eastbound in a 2023 Freightliner semi with a single box trailer. The semi-truck hit the center barrier and overturned while the trailer went over, blocking the two left lanes on the westbound side. The truck blocked the two left lanes on the eastbound side.

The driver wore a seatbelt and was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance.

Boise Fire reports that sulfuric acid leaking from the batteries of the trailer contaminated two firefighters. Both were decontaminated on scene and evaluated by ACEMS before being released on scene.

The eastbound lanes were blocked for approximately four hours, and the two on the westbound side remained closed for several hours more while cleanup efforts were underway.

This crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

CBS2 will update this story when more information is released.
